I’ve been experimenting with scanning fragments of the natural world around us and translating them into digital forms. In a time when we can no longer be certain where the boundary between reality and the digital lies (and some argue there is no need to draw that distinction), our ability to tell what is real from what is illusion continues to blur.
Within that uncertainty, I keep asking what desire is reflected in the impulse to make the digital look “real,” and what that kind of realism ends up replacing or erasing.
